Inari is a municipality in Finnish Lapland with about 7000 inhabitants. A large part of the area consists of uninhabited wilderness. The major sources of income are reindeer herding, tourism and forestry. The largest village is Ivalo with about 3000 inhabitants. South of Ivalo is a popular winter sports resort, Saariselkä, with 11 slopes for downhill skiing and a 230 km long network of cross-country skiing tracks.
